Meet the Lakes of The Interlaken Inn

One of the most common questions we get when guests arrive is: "Is it InterLAHken or Inter-LAKE-en?" We are here to officially report that it is pronounced "Inter-LAKE-en," because we are between two lakes!

Th Interlaken Inn is located in Lakeville, CT which is within the beautiful & historic town of Salisbury, CT. This small place is home to about 1000 people and Connecticut’s deepest natural lake, Lake Wononscopomuc. This 250-year-old lake is accessible to all Interlaken guests through our private driveway and is a great place for swimming, fishing, picnics, canoeing, kayaking, etc. Pets are welcome too, but must be kept on a leash when they are not swimming! This is also where we hold our wedding ceremonies and bonfires.

If our lakefront is crowded, across the lake is Salisbury’s Town Grove. The Grove was named by the Holley Family who purchased the grove in 1951 and acts as the town’s place for summer fun. There is a beach, playground, basketball court, racquetball court, plenty of open space for picnics, and grills scattered throughout the lawn. If you want to visit the grove during your stay at The Interlaken, entry is $15 for the day.

Behind the main part of our property, you will find Lake Wononpakook.  This is a quiet and more residential lake, that is also a little more shallow, so it is easy to get boats in and out! This lake is accessible exclusively to Interlaken guests who book our Waterfront Cottage. The humble abode has a screened-in porch, firepit, picnic table, grill, and the perfect amount of space inside for a couples getaway or a small family.

Our lakefront property is totally unique for our state and we are so happy to share it with our guests! Book your stay now to enjoy the lakes of The Interlaken!
