Called “A Mid Summer’s Day Dream,” the package will transport the couple back to another century when life moved at a leisurely pace and an afternoon ride involved carriages and a team of elegant horses drawn by a handsome driver.

The historic Interlaken Inn, which was established in 1892, is nestled between two of Connecticut’s most beautiful lakes and in the foothills of The Berkshires. Nearby are authentic covered bridges, quaint vineyards for wine tasting, the tearoom & emporium of the famed Harney & Sons Tea Company, artisan shops, charming New England villages, and elegant estates.

The Mid Summer’s Night Dream package features a one hour horse-drawn carriage ride through Norfolk, Connecticut -- a place where time has truly stood still for over a century. The elegant French Vis-à-vis carriage will take guest through the winding streets of the historic village of Norfolk, past Revolutionary War-era homes, buildings and monuments. The carriage ride will continue along side Buttermilk Falls, the village’s old mill pond and scenic meadows on to the Battell-Stoeckel Estate, home to the Yale Summer School of Music and Art and the Norfolk Chamber Music Festival.

Minutes from the estate are the vineyards of Land of Nod Winery, a fifth-generation farmstead that offers unique vintages, tasting of its signature Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Raspberry Fruit Wine, and a hometown welcome from historian and winemaker William Adam. The farm has been designated a Connecticut "Farm of Distinction, as it has been in continuous ownership by the same family for more than 200 years.

Just across the country road from Land of Nod is Connecticut’s only industrial monument – the Beckley Furnace. A vestige from a time when the region was the preeminent supplier of iron and iron products for the revolutionary cause, this iron blast furnace is fully restored and offers a rich historical perspective of the Litchfield Hills.

The Mid Summer Day Dream package includes a one hour French Vis-à-vis carriage ride, breakfast for two, a pair of tickets to movies at a "turn-of-the-last-century" theater located nearby, deluxe overnight accommodations at The Interlaken Inn, wine tasting at Land of Nod, and one complimentary dinner entrée with the purchase of another entrée,.
