The ski areas close to Interlaken aren't just for skiing — they're all about winter fun. Ski Butternut in Great Barrington was called “a true family mountain” by Ski Magazine. In addition to skiing and snowboarding, Butternut has a Tubing Center that offers 200 tubes, eight lanes and a magic carpet lift that makes getting back to the top of the tubing hill easy. Tubing is a fun alternative to skiing and riding and Butternut’s 100% snowmaking coverage insures there is snow even when you don’t have it in your backyard! Over at Catamount Ski in close-by Hillsdale NY, you’ll find the most diverse trail network in the Berkshires — over 35 trails and park areas, from super-gentle to super-steep. Snowboarders especially love Catamount for their jumps, jibs and boardercross! And right down the road from Interlaken is Connecticut’s largest ski and snowboard resort, Mohawk Mountain, with 20 trails and 7 lifts on a 330-acre site in Cornwall. Mohawk is known for the excellent quality of their snow. (Be sure to check out Interlaken's Ski & Stay Package when planning your trip.)

Learn and Explore Nature.
The Sharon Audubon Center is just a few miles down the road and home to many species of birds and wildlife. Visitors are welcome to explore the center’s trails, gardens and visit the Raptor Aviaries which house birds of prey (small admission fee). Located about 20 minutes away in Millbrook, NY is Trevor Zoo, the only zoo in the country that is located at a high school! The zoo was established in 1936 at Millbrook School, a renowned co-ed private school, by its first biology teacher who had a passion for sharing his love of wildlife. Millbrook students care for the animals from five different continents, including endangered species, and learn about biological diversity and conservation. Trevor Zoo houses more than 180 exotic and indigenous animals including Red Pandas, Snowy Owl, Otters, Red Wolves, Golden Lion Tamarin and Ring-Tailed Lemurs. Trevor Zoo is open to the public every day of the year from 9 am to 5 pm. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children and seniors.
