And who do you know that doesn’t have it?! Interlaken has a real HIGH fever this weekend – we are starting this first weekend of Spring with a BANG, and we love it! And the weather?! One could not ask for a better first day of Spring!
Our first wedding of the Spring season begins in a few short hours, and our wedding pavilion is set and ready to go! Kamilla of Kamilla’s Floral Boutique in Millerton, NY just finished decorating, and our service staff is putting the final touches on the tables. Doesn’t it look wonderful? Sixty Guests, mostly from out of town, will enjoy dancing and dinner, with Sea Bass with cherry tomatoes, basil and shallots as just one of the entree choices this evening.
Also staying and dining with us this weekend is the Hotchkiss School Lacrosse team, who are getting a head start on their season. As the saying goes, “Practice makes perfect”, so why not get started even before the Hotchkiss spring break is over? With Interlaken and Hotchkiss School being right next door to each other, it was certainly an easy arrangement to be made!
And last, but not least of course, is the 3rd annual Style Fabrics quilt gathering in our largest meeting room, Will Rogers. About 2 dozen ladies, equipped with colorful materials and sewing machines, all at their own work stations, are enjoying their craft time – and of course, food time! One woman made me laugh as she said “I come here to quilt, but all I do is eat!” We offer packages that include all three meals per day, as well as two coffee breaks. Many of the ladies also make time in their day to book facials and massages with ELLORA Spa & Sanctuary - and all come back from their treatments relaxed and radiant! More news from ELLORA in the next few days!
Now stop reading this blog and get out there and enjoy the day before it’s over!

Quilting the weekend away!
The views are breathtaking!
And the view I am referring to is the one from the latest landscape painting of famous artist David Dunlop now hanging in the Interlaken main lobby. This is our second purchase from David, and we find his paintings so exquisite! David captures the Lakeville area perfectly. No wonder he is an Emmy award winning artist! Be sure to admire Mr. Dunlop’s beautiful paintings during your next visit to Interlaken! You can’t miss them!
It’s OFFICIAL – we are GREEN!
We have always been environmentally conscious, but over the last six months we have really pushed forward with “going GREEN”. With assistance from the CT DEP, we made some changes, some simple, some not-so-simple - and it’s clear the result has been well worth it! I have blogged about many of the changes we have made, so now you will have to go back and read all about them! Thank you to you, our Guests, and the staff at Interlaken for taking care of our environment!
Create your Memories!
We are fortunate enough to have another Creative Memories group visiting us this weekend, for the second week in a row! This group is based out of Dutchess County, NY, and they visit us once in the Spring and once in the Fall. They do the same thing each time they are here: scrap, crop, laugh, drink wine, have contests, attend demos, get ideas, have gourmet meals, scrap, stay up late, get up early, and put together their life memories with paper and photos! We have 43 women in our two conference rooms, each with their own work station – which of course they need as you can see from all of their supplies! I absolutely love walking through the ladies, watching them be creative – I always walk away with a few good ideas! The leader of this Creative Memories group is Teri Meiers from Poughquag, NY. Teri has been involved with Creative Memories for eight years, and she has been the “Legendary Leader” for 2 of the last 3 years. (A Legendary Leader means she is one of the top 10 leaders of Creative Memories in the entire USA – way to go, Teri!). If you are interested in becoming a member or a consultant for Creative Memories, feel free to contact Teri – she would love to welcome you to her group and the world of scrapbooking! You can reach Teri at firstname.lastname@example.org, or at 845-223-6022. If you are tired of hearing me talk about bringing your scrapbooking team (or other crafty group) to the Interlaken property, then contact Kristy Barto, our Sales Manager (email@example.com). We would love to be the weekend host your creative event!
Less than a dozen!
So a Baker’s dozen is 13, but what is one less than a dozen called? If there is a name, let me know! Otherwise, why am I asking, is what you are asking? That is how many available wedding dates we have left in the year 2010! Since I am in the process of taking apart our wedding scrapbook album and putting in some fabulous new photos (compliments of Eric Limon, a one of a kind photographer from nearby Massachusetts) – I am surprised there are any dates left! Mr. Limon captures our property perfectly – the gorgeous ceremony held lakeside, the casual cocktail hour on the lawn, Guests dining and dancing under the wedding pavilion, photos of the Bride and Groom sharing a private moment amongst the birch trees – there are just too many perfect picture moments to write about! And this property in autumn? Let’s just say “WOW”! Come see the property for yourself, check out the new wedding album – and see if Interlaken is the perfect place for you and your sweetheart to say “I DO”! Email Brandon Scimeca at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information on hosting the perfect Connecticut Wedding Weekend for your family and friends!
