Two “shows” – one weekend at the Interlaken!
OK, so you may think I am jumping the gun a bit, “rushing the season” perhaps, but have you made your plans for July 4th weekend yet? Remember I said that April is the most popular month for people to make their travel plans? I had two calls earlier today regarding the 4th, so I was thinking I should mention it to everyone! When one couple wanted to know “what there is to do in the area” (in addition to all of the great amenities right on property – swimming, boating, EATING! ), I quickly mentioned two “shows”: The Tri-Arts Theatre in Sharon, CT – a wonderful summer stock theatre that produces at least 3 major shows per summer season, along with other events as well. “The Wedding Singer” is the show playing over the 4th of July weekend, with both matinee and evening performances available. Interlaken is proud to be a sponsor of “Divas Do (More) Broadway” show that will run August 28th – 30th. And of course July 4th would not be complete without FIREWORKS – the other “show” component of a perfect Independence weekend! Lime Rock Park, just a few minutes from the Interlaken, hosts a spectactular fireworks show – one sure not to miss! Bring a blanket and some wine and enjoy the party in the sky! Call us today to make your “show” plans!
Everything is in bloom!
And not just the beautiful Spring flowers! We have made so many changes and additions at the Interlaken property already this Spring, and I thought I’d share some of those with you!
One of my favorite additions to our property this season are the new cedar swings located at our beautiful lakefront. Perfectly made for two, I think, with a fabulous view of the deepest lake in Connecticut. Neighboring these wonderful swings very soon will be new chaise lounges, perfectly comfortable for relaxing lakeside for the afternoon while your kids swim in the lake.
Our new 32″ LCD TV’s are in place now in our main building, in Countryside and in our Sunnyside building. Our Townhouse rooms are sporting new fluffy white duvets, while Woodside has become our only pet friendly accommodation available on property. Our new posh pet beds have been well received by all of the pups that have visited us recently!
Onto the wedding and banquet end of things: say good-bye to the white chair covers and say hello to a beautiful gold chair to keep you and your Guests comfortable for the duration of your wedding reception or other celebrated event. These chairs add such a touch of elegance while remaining neutral enough to go with any way you choose to decorate the space. I’ll be blogging about weddings quite often this season, so keep checking back for some great pictures and details of each wonderful event!
ELLORA Spa, Sanctuary and Pilates is moving ahead as scheduled, as they are adding one more massage room and one more facial room as well as a Pilates studio in our Countryside building. Won’t it be great to get away yet still start your day right with a Pilates class?! I’ll fill you in with more details as opening day gets closer!
And let’s end today’s blog with the word “FREE”! Last year I could not reference these two items this way, so here we go:
Complimentary Deluxe Continental Breakfast is available for all mid-week travelers! Stay with us Sunday through Thursday nights and enjoy this breakfast in our lobby Monday through Friday mornings from 6am to 9am. Wolfgang Puck Organic Coffee, whole fruit, yogurt, danish – just enough energy to get your day started!
Complimentary Wi-Fi Service in every room on our entire property. We have improved our wi-fi coverage through the addition of repeaters that have helped us eliminate wi-fi “blind” spots.
So in addition to the beautiful countryside, hiking trails, cultural events, theater productions, and the amazing healthy food created by our Chefs in Morgan’s – there are so many new reasons to come and visit Interlaken this season!
Perfect Picnic Lakefront Lunch!
Did you know that April is the most popular month for people to make their travel plans for the upcoming season? Have you made your travel plans yet? Now is the time! One couple decided to make their plans in April for April! They arrived last night, had a wonderful dinner in Morgan’s, and now at this very moment, are enjoying a picnic lunch at our lakefront as part of the Instant Romance Package. This couple from Queens, NY, happens to have the entire lakefront to themselves – they picked the perfect time to visit our property! Be spontaneous like this couple – watch Spring bloom at Interlaken! Check out our website for all of our Spring packages!
Starstruck at Interlaken Inn!
I was talking to the Guest that stayed in our Honeymoon Suite last night, and he was overwhelmed with last night’s sky. As he was relaxing in the new hot tub (from Softub) on his privately enclosed deck, he could not believe how many stars filled the sky! Being from NYC, he said he never sees that many stars at any one time because of the buildings being inview. I live in the country, and can see stars every night they are out, but fail to appreciate them the way this Guest did last night. From now on, I’ll be sure to look out my window each night and admire every starry sky! When is the last time you just sat, relaxed and watched the beautiful night sky? That long? I think our Honeymoon Suite hot tub is calling your name! Call us to make a reservation at 1-800-222-2909!
JDRF – making a difference
Each year, the Reisman family and the Interlaken Inn generously support many fine charities throughout our local region. One of the charities that we focus our main support efforts on is the Juvenile Diabetes Resarch Foundation (JDRF). This organization has helped so many young children and teens deal with the emotional shock of newly diagnosed Type 1 Diabetes. Along with the many research opportunities this organization provides, it also provides care and guidance to school nurses and one of my favorites “The Bag of Hope”. The Bag of Hope program provides parents and children with information, accu-chek monitors, even a little stuffed toybear. They provide this free of charge. Interlaken employees have been involved in many of the walks in and around Litchfield County, and have contributed to various fund drives in our local community. Please visit their website and maybe you will be able to help some of these children deal with this unfair disorder. Maybe they will touch your heart as they’ve touched ours.
