A Jack-o-lantern Welcome
So yesterday the Interlaken staff enjoyed a bountiful Harvest lunch complete with pumpkin and butternut squash soup, stuffed turkey breasts, mashed potatoes, root vegetables, mini butternut squashes stuffed with crabmeat, homemade cranberry and of course freshly made pumpkin pies! Delicious! Anyway, that gave everyone good energy to grab a huge pumpkin (from Salisbury Garden Center) and grab a huge knife and start carving! Some of us still carve each year (thanks to little ones) and there were others who haven’t carved since they were little – so it was fun to see everyone be a kid again!
Now these great Jack-o-Lanterns are displayed on the Interlaken’s front entrance and are waiting to say hello to you! You are seeing some here, but you know you have to see them all lit up at night! Come for an overnight, or come for dinner at Morgan’s, or come for coffee and dessert after a movie – any reason to visit us when it’s dark and the jack-o-lanterns are lit!

Yes, it's true!
The SUN is shining again in New England! And actually the forecast looks perfect for this upcoming and busy holiday weekend here at Interlaken and in the Northwest Corner. Friday is sunny, high of 70 and then Saturday, Sunday and Columbus Day mainly sunny and in the 60′s. Perfect fall weather to slip on a cozy sweater and head to Salisbury’s Fall Festival starting this Friday. There will be music, tag sales, book sales, baked goods, crafts, sidewalk sales, the scarecrow display, the beer tasting at Satre Hill, the chili contest, the Bearcat 5K race, and so much more! The best part of it is you will be outside in the wonderful weather for all of these fun events! While you are there, let us know of the fun you are having via Facebook or Twitter!
Can you feel the HEAT?
I certainly could when I tasted the first preparations of the vegetarian chili made by Interlaken Chef’s Nick and Kody last night! They were just bringing the ingredients together and I happened to be walking through the kitchen, so lucky me, I was able to try it and give my opinion. It started with a “yum, what’s that flavor?” to “oh my, this has got some heat!” All good, though, as chili should have a kick to it. Wait until Chef Shawn adds his suggestions to it – that is a man who knows hot! They aren’t preparing this chili for Morgan’s, but they are creating it for the annual Chili Cook-Off Contest being held this Sunday, October 10th at Noon on the Green in Salisbury, CT. Sponsored by Noble Horizons, all proceeds of the Chili Contest will benefit Salisbury Winter Sports Association (SWSA) Junior Olympic Ski Jump Competition. This is just one event that is happening this weekend at Salisbury’s annual Fall Festival! Be sure to stop by the Green at Noon on Sunday and place your vote by 1:30pm! And remember: Morgan’s at Interlaken!
