"Foliage Central"
I love that this part of Northwest Connecticut is referred to as “foliage central” and was also named a top rated destination for all leaf peepers – thank you Yankee Magazine! The towns of Kent and Litchfield were named specifically, and Interlaken is located very close to these quaint New England villages – just choose Route 7 South or Route 63 South and you are there! Thanks to Mother Nature, the fall foliage season has started early and if we continue to get warm sunny days the colors will linger into November. If you ask me, the autumn season could never last long enough! Anyway, now is the perfect time to plan for that hike you’ve been wanting to do all summer but never did, and your reward will not only be the fantastic views but you will be able to admire the amazing vibrant autumn colors! Why not see as much as Connecticut as you possible can? Bear Mountain is the tallest peak in CT, and can be hiked to via the Undermountain Trail for 2 miles, then connecting with the Appalachian Trail for about another mile to the top of Bear Mountain. It’s been deemed as a strenuous hike by the www.berkshirehiking.com website, but well worth the adventure. If hiking is just not your thing, then maybe just sitting on a cedar swing at the Interlaken’s lakefront is more your style! The trees are now touched with color – the next few weeks should be amazing!
Admire the beauty - no energy required!
Stay connected anywhere!
I would love to work like this all day, wouldn’t you?
Interlaken Resort and Conference Center

My weekend wedding walk
If you’ve been reading my blog all week, then you know I will find any and every reason to blog about something that requires me to go outside on a beautiful fall day! We are having another good weather day at Interlaken, so it’s the perfect time for me to grab the camera and head out! It’s also a perfect day for a wedding, and of course Interlaken has one happening right now. As most couples do, they decided to get married at our lakefront, so I decided to take a walk as a “wedding attendee” and take some pictures on my way. If you decide to get married at Interlaken, this is what your Guests will see as they stroll down to the beautiful Lake Wononscopomuc and the ceremony site!
Getting closer....
Almost there....
Here I am at the lakeside ceremony site!
Who is that I see in the distance as I walk back up to the property?
The groomsmen of course!
International Housekeepers Week
We have been celebrating it all week long with special meals and surprises for all of the Interlaken’s international staff members and guest room attendants. It is the perfect time to show appreciation to those hard working staff members that keep Interlaken clean and comfortable! A fun way to celebrate anything is through food, and we’ve been doing just that! The Internationals put together some of their favorite recipes of dishes from home to share with everyone, and have worked with the Chefs to present a fabulous lunch each day. Chinese, Romanian, Bulgarian, Indian and Chilean cusines have been shared this week, and we’ve loved learning about the dishes, and better yet, tasting them! Thank you, Helen, for the constant coordination, set-up and clean-up of each event – and for the intense word puzzle the other day! As the last day of Housekeeping Week wraps up, we will continue to appreciate and celebrate the wonderful and diverse staff that Interlaken is fortunate to have!
Where Am I, Part 3!
Continuing on with my wonderful walk of the Interlaken property! The weather this weekend in New England will be gorgeous – sunny and high’s in the low 70′s. Gorgeous! You should come to where I am!
I am in our newly renovated lobby! Read the morning paper with a cup of Harney Tea!
I am on Morgan's deck where we serve our weekend breakfast buffet. What a pretty view! (And a neat picture with the reflection of the table!)
Where Am I, part 2!
Still roaming the Interlaken property on another gorgeous fall day – let us see where I am today!
I am still sitting in that chair, and I turned to the left!
No matter where I am, everything is green and pretty against the beautiful blue sky! Just wait until the colors start to arrive – there’s nothing like New England Foliage! Trees are starting to change, so book your visit in the next few weeks so you can be where I am!
WHERE AM I?
It is a gorgeous fall day today at the Interlaken, so it was only most appropriate that I grab the camera and head outside! Follow me, and then tell me…
I am sitting on the terrace under the awning, looking out to the pool. Can you see the tree changing in the distance?
I am walking up the path to the Wedding Pavilion
I am sitting on the deck outside Room 216, our Skip Barber Suite
I am walking along the dog path near the Sunnyside building

We look forward to being friends with YOU today!
I WANT CANDY!
As promised, here some photos from the wedding at the Interlaken this past weekend! Rather than showing you the usual ones, such as the ceremony at the lakefront, the set-up under the pavilion, etc., I thought I’d go with just three today – three unique and fun ideas that you may want to have at your wedding! Here they are:
I WANT CANDY!
A Candy Bar! Buckets of yummy candy with tongs in each for choosing – it’s like being at Dylan’s but in Lakeville, CT! What a great way to satisfy every sweet tooth that is sharing in your sweet celebration!
ACCESSORIZE!
Add some dress up fun to your celebration! Every accessory you could ask for: hats, masks, scarves, feathers, you name it – it was all here at the photo booth! They brought in a portable studio, the Guest would take their own picture, it would print out onto a scrapbooking table, each Guest would then “scrap” their photo into the scrapbook – what a great way to capture unforgettable memories!
CUPCAKES!
One cake, one flavor? I don’t think so! Check out this cupcake variety: Carrot cake, chocolate with a peanut butter filling, chocolate with mint filling and mint frosting, red velvet with cream cheese frosting, lemon with a sugared lemon on top. With such great flavors, who can choose just one?!
