New Year’s Eve – a reminder!
New Year’s Eve is only 36 days away, so now is certainly the time to make your plans – especially if you wish to join us here at the Interlaken for our very special New Year’s Eve celebration! We are limiting our party to 30 couples, and at this point we have room for only 8 more couples. The package includes a three course dinner, four cocktails, champagne toast at midnight, overnight accommodations and breakfast for two the next morning. The Scott Heth Trio will provide you some music for dancing, and the Chefs are already working on a special a la carte menu that is sure to satisfy your taste buds! Call us anytime at 1-800-222-2909 to make your reservations!
Scrapping the Weekend away!
That is what 40 women are doing at this very moment at the Interlaken! They began their weekend Friday with a welcome reception of wine and cheese, followed by dinner, and then cropped the rest of the night away! Saturday, more of the same – three meals, more wine and cheese – and hours of scrapping and cropping! I love wandering through the conference rooms, looking over each scrapper’s shoulder to see their creativity. I spoke to one woman who was able to finish two 12×12 books this weekend, one being a gift for her Mom for Christmas. The Interlaken property is so conducive for crafting groups, so get yours together and drop Kristy Barto an email at firstname.lastname@example.org to make the arrangements! I would love to blog about your group someday soon!
The Sun and the Wind
In keeping with our “Going Green” Certification, we are now looking into alternate forms of energy from our Mother Earth friends – the sun and the wind. Because the Interlaken has a Southwest exposure from the Sun on our main lodge, we become an ideal property for solar intervention. We are also between two bodies of water, so the prevailing winds in the atmosphere make it ideal for windpower. We have begun to investigate both of these renewable energies as Interlaken continues to reduce its carbon footprint in our quest to become a Connecticut Green Lodging Facility.
Composting has begun!
As promised, we had our composters installed last week, and in just one week, one unit is already full! Fruit skins, vegetable trimmings, egg shells, apple cores, potato peelings – any waste from fruits and vegetables are all added into the composter and mixed with a “starter” as well as fallen leaves and twigs from our property. The unit is mixed every few days, and it will slowly breakdown, and we’ll be able to add more scraps and by Spring, we’ll have 3 full units to put back into our gardens. And then start all over again! Giving back to the earth is the defnition of composting! More to our earth, less to the landfill. Connecticut Green Certification HERE WE COME!
I love Quilting!
That is what I saw on one of our Guest’s license plate holder as I pulled into the Interlaken’s parking lot this morning. We have two dedicated quilting groups staying with us this weekend, and our conference rooms are full of sewing machines, irons, fabric, color, tips, and much creativity! I love when it’s a “quilting weekend” – the gals and guys quilt away, and get fed often! (we just delivered hot jumbo pretzels as their afternoon snack!) We offer special packages for these groups, so they pay one price and everything is included – breakfast, lunch, dinner, two coffee breaks, and overnight accommodations. These Guests are up very early and stay up very late, just quilting away, only to stop for their next meal! I do admit I am a bit jealous – who wouldn’t love to be able to get away for a whole weekend and just do their favorite craft, and eat until their hearts content? Sounds like a great weekend to me! And, I also met a woman who was here with her sister and two daughters – they arrived a day early and made a little reunion out of it as well! So, if you are part of a quilting group, a scrapbooking group, or any crafting group, and would like more information, contact our Sales Manager Kristy Barto at email@example.com.
A beautiful accomplishment!
Quilts and Treasures
One size fits ALL!
What I am referring to here is a Gift Certificate for the Interlaken for the holidays! It’s the perfect gift for that person in your family that has everything. And we all can think of someone like that! You can finally send your parents away for an overnight, and better yet, make it for one of our packages. Yesterday I talked about our Millbrook Wine package, but we also have many other packages available as well, and all can be used for gift certificate purchases. How about a sleigh ride through the Northwest Hills? It is one of our most popular winter packages. The best thing about a gift certificate is that they can use it anytime they want – after a freshly fallen snow, they can make reservations for the Sleigh Ride package, how ideal is that? And you don’t have to go anywhere, we’ll send the gift certificate right to you in plenty of time. Think about it, and call us anytime! 1-800-222-2909.
Wine before dinner?
Absolutely, and why not? Sample several wines at the Millbrook Vineyard and Winery in Millbrook, NY as part of our “Millbrook Vineyard Tasting and Tour” package, now offered 7 days a week until May 1st (holidays excluded). The package includes tickets and six glasses of wine at the winery, a three-course dinner for two at our restaurant, Morgan’s, two complimentary cocktails (perhaps a glass of wine?), overnight accommodations and breakfast for two the next day. The value of this package is incredible! The Guests who have visited the vineyard come back raving about it. If you have never visited a winery before, now is the time! Check out the vineyard at http://millbrookwine.com/index.php and specifics of our package.
My visit to Sunset Rock
I recommended hiking to Sunset Rock to many Guests this weekend, so with such a beautiful day today, I decided to head there myself! I’ve been many times before, but each time I visit I find it more beautiful. It’s a short hike – about 1/2 mile to the rock and a 1/2 mile back – so it’s perfect to “sneak” in during the day to stay connected to nature. When you reach the rock, the amazing views of the valley and distant views of the Catskill Mountains will make Sunset Rock one little spot you will love to go to when you have an hour to spare! Pack a picnic lunch to make it more memorable!
Sunset Rock is located near Bash Bish Falls in Copake Falls, NY, about 20 minutes from the Interlaken property. For directions and more information, visit http://www.berkshirehiking.com/hikes/sunset_rock.html.
If you are looking for something a bit more low key this New Year’s Eve, then consider what Interlaken is offering this year. We are offering our package to just 30 couples, so we are keeping the celebration smaller than usual but just as festive! We will start your evening by serving you a wonderful dinner in Morgan’s – we have created special a la carte menu just for the occasion. This might be the time to try the restaurant I’ve been writing so much about! We will also provide you with four cocktails during the night as part of the package while you listen to the sounds of Scott Heth and his trio. Scott has always been a part of the New Year’s Band at Interlaken, so if you are familiar with his sounds, expect the same great music from him! As you dance your way towards midnight, we’ll make sure you have champagne in hand to toast the New Year! Wander back to your room, and then join us again in the morning for a full breakfast buffet. Call early as the party is limited! 1-800-222-2909.
Three weeks from today…
Thanksgiving will be over – have you made your plans yet? Have you decided to take on the task of all of the holiday fixings at your house again this year? Well, stop! Tell your family you will meet them at Morgan’s restaurant at the Interlaken this year! You and your family are not just limited to eating traditional carved roasted turkey, as we offer other choices, such as artichoke and leek ravioli and shepherd’s pie. We fill our buffet with other traditional favorites, such as mashed potatoes, candied sweet potatoes and green bean casserole, a variety of salads and breads. And don’t forget dessert! An assortment of pies, chocolate mousse, and carrot cake are just some options for finishing your meal (if you have any room left!). Seatings are at 1pm and 3pm. Reserve a table for your family at 800-222-2909 or locally at 435-9878.
